Positive urine drug tests indicate nothing with respect to impairment. The production of urine by the kidneys is subject to a host of variables and then the urine is stored in the bladder for various lengths of time and may be diluted with additional urine. Therefore, the mere presence of drugs or drug metabolites in the urine does not indicate a blood level and without a blood level there can be no effect on the brain and therefore no effect on an individual’s physical coordination or mental abilities. Hence, the presence of substances in the urine cannot indicate anything about an individual’s impairment.
