Breath sprays contain alcohol and are made to persist in the mouth for an extended period of time and, therefore, can interfere with evidentiary breath testing by contaminating the breath specimen as it is expelled, leading to a tainted specimen being presented to the machine for analysis. This would result in an erroneously elevated result on evidentiary breath testing.
